I’d never heard of Jasmine Star before she took the stage at ROI: The Millionaire Summit last month. I have been missing out! According to her website, Jasmine started a photography business, “scaled it to a business strategy empire, and then founded a tech startup, while serving as CEO.” She dropped a lot of gems on the mainstage about how to build trust and authentic engagement. She’s the reason I recommitted to weekly LinkedIn blog posts to share all the deep thoughts rattling around my head and upped my game with promoting my books. LOL.
So, back to Jasmine’s star insights (see what I did there?):
1. Share everything you know: Don't assume your knowledge is too basic. Most people won't know what seems obvious to you and your unique perspective makes content valuable. I highly recommend this episode of her podcast with FAWN WEAVER (Homeless to CEO: How to Build a Legacy and Generational Wealth with Fawn Weaver.) Fawn subscribes to sharing everything she knows now and you’ll get a history lesson while you listen. I'm still tingling that I met Fawn last month. Pure joy that you can read about here.
2. Make personal connections: Respond to every comment and leave comments on others' posts (at least 5 per day). Jasmine made me reconsider my frequency of commenting. Since I left Facebook and Instagram in February, I only need to pay attention to the traffic on LinkedIn.
3. Create content: Choose a consistent content category. Use a hook-insights-call to action caption formula. Share personal stories and behind-the-scenes content. Showcase your "why" and what makes you unique.
4. Engagement Principles: Be genuine and real. Invite conversation through your content. I’m going to work on this. Usually, I just declare my deep thoughts but am not initiating a conversation.
5. Trust-Building Framework: Create content that reveals your personality. I’m enjoying the creativity that comes with the snarky promotional posts about From Tension to Transformation: A Board’s Guide to Flourishing. This week’s posts made me laugh, so hopefully others had a similar reaction.
Jasmine’s core message is that trust is the primary marketing strategy, and authentic, consistent personal connection drives customer relationships. She shared a simple H-I-C formula for content creation:
H - Hook - Create a tiny, intriguing opening - Make people want to click "read more" - Example starters: "Can I share a secret?" - Goal: Capture initial attention
I - Insights - Share something about: - Your business - Your personal experience - Behind-the-scenes details - Benefits of your product/service - Provide valuable information - Make it uniquely yours
C - Call to Action - Invite engagement - Ask a specific question - Encourage interaction - Examples: - "What do you think about...?" - "Have you ever experienced...?"
To transform passive content consumption into active conversation and connection, I’m following Jasmine’s wisdom to post at least three times per week consistently over the next 90 days. If you get annoyed with my posts, especially as the world continues to unravel, take it up with Jasmine Star. Tee hee.
